Preparing for High School

Matthews Hall works hard to prepare our graduates for a successful transition to secondary school.

A Grade 8 Parent and Student information meeting is held each fall to review the process and timelines for applying to secondary school. Local schools and their programming options are reviewed with families.

Grade 8 teachers work with each Grade 8 student to ensure each is choosing a high school of “best fit”. Assistance in completing applications is provided. Our Grade 8 classes also visit a local high school. Connections are made with other CAIS and CIS independent schools for families considering the option of boarding for Grade 9.

Course selection is monitored and discussed during Guidance classes.
