The school day at Matthews Hall is from 8:55am to 3:55pm. Students may begin to arrive to a supervised playground at 8:40am. Early Years students are dropped directly to their classrooms where they are met by their teachers.
Parents may use our ring road to drop students off at the West Gate, or parents may park in the back lot and walk their children on to the playground.
Students who arrive by bus are dropped off on the East side of the school and enter the playground through the gate.
The front parking lot is reserved for parents of Early Years students who are managing babies and toddlers.
Once students enter their classroom, there are morning announcements and singing of the National Anthem at 9am.
Students are outside for a 15 minute recess break in the morning and the afternoon. Students eat lunch in their classrooms followed by a 40 minute outdoor recess.
In Early Years to Grade 5, students spend most or their school day learning with their core teachers. They may see a subject specialist for music, computers, library, French and physical education.
In the Middle School Years, Grades 6 to 8, students begin and end the day with their homeroom teacher. Throughout the day they rotate through classes with specialized teachers. Each class is 40 minutes long.
