The school day at Matthews Hall is from 8:55am to 3:55pm. Students may begin to arrive at 8:40am. Kindergarten students are dropped directly to their classrooms where they are met by their teachers.
Arrival
Parents may use our ring road to drop students off at the West Gate, or parents may park in the back lot and walk their children on to the playground.
Students who arrive by bus are dropped off at the front of the school and are met by a teacher.
Parking
The front parking lot is reserved for parents of Kindergarten students who are managing babies and toddlers.
School Day
Once students enter their classroom, there are morning announcements and singing of the National Anthem at 9am.
Students are outside for a 15 minute recess break in the morning and the afternoon. Students eat lunch in their classrooms followed by a 40 minute outdoor recess.
In Early Years to Grade 5, students spend most or their school day learning with their core teachers. They may see a subject specialist for music, computers, library, French and physical education.
In the Middle School Years, Grades 6 to 8, students begin and end the day with their homeroom teacher. Throughout the day they rotate through classes with specialized teachers. Each class is 40 minutes long.
Students are dismissed at 3:55 pm. Kindergarten students are picked up from their classrooms. Parents may pick up directly at the supervised West Gate by using the ring road, or they may park in the back lot and meet their child on the playground.
School Uniform
Students are expected to dress in their proper school uniform each day.
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday is formal #1 dress
- Tuesday and Thursdays are informal #2 dress
- Physical education uniforms should be stored at school.
Uniform pieces are available at our school store located in the atrium near the gym.
Sickness or Injury
If a student is unwell or injured, they will be attended to in the main office. Our staff and faculty are trained in First Aid.
Assemblies
Our school gathers approximately twice a month for assemblies. Parents are welcome to join us.
Field Trips
Classes take field trips to special locations in and around London. Our primary students are bused off site for swimming and skating lessons. Our older students participate in ski and tennis lessons.
