It looks to be a full day of rain as I write this which, to me, is among the early signs that spring is not too far away. Spring is a sign of many things; longer days, warmer weather, and for the Matthews Hall community, the spring Gala. Our Gala is an annual opportunity to come together, and both celebrate and support our school.
Time together is not just a luxury; it is a necessity. When we come together, we deepen community ties, learn from one another, stay connected to the school, and foster a sense of belonging and care for the place we all support. These interactions enrich the school experience for everyone, creating a vibrant, supportive environment where everyone can thrive. This is the promise of the Gala.
And this year, it is a little different.
When surveyed earlier in the year and asked what kind of event you would like to see at Matthews Hall, the Gala and social events were two of the top three answers. Of the eight options provided and then ranked by those who responded, two thirds listed the Gala in their top three choices. In response, we have a great Events Committee working hard each week to be creative and put together a fun evening for everyone.
Without giving too much away, I will share some of what you can expect that I believe makes it the event to attend. This year, we will see the return of the live auction and auctioneer, and we have also partnered with a silent auction company ensuring many interesting items in addition to those generously donated for the evening. The Events committee has also embraced a theme to which we can all find a connection. Whether it is or was through the music, the fashion, the syntax or simply that you were influenced by the vibe of the 90’s, you can come and embrace those moments once again.
As we look ahead to this unforgettable night, I invite you to mark your calendars, gather your friends, dust off your best 90’s inspiration, and join us for an evening that promises to be both meaningful and ridiculously fun. The Gala is more than a fundraiser—it is a celebration of who we are and what we build together. Let’s fill the room with laughter, connection, generosity, and the unmistakable spirit of Matthews Hall. I hope to see you there as we make this year’s Gala one to remember!
